The importance of Zinc

Zinc is mineral that is involved in over 300 chemical relations in the body, ranging from supporting the immune system, regulating homocysteine to protein synthesis and energy production. Volume 5 of The National Diet and Nutrition Survey conducted by the Department of Health in 2004 reported the average daily intake of vitamins and minerals for adults in the UK. Dietary analysis demonstrated there were low intakes of many vitamins and minerals including zinc. So it’s safe to say that zinc is extremely important to our health and many of us are deficient in it.
